Question:
I recently got one Sony HDR-XR200V Camcorder I want to convert the files from m2ts to MKV I have SONY Vegas but MKV Vegas isn’t there. I basically want to convert m2ts file into a more common video formats, how to do?
Answer:
Dear, there are three logical possibilities for your reference. The biggest consideration is the software or hardware you’re using to watch the movies on.
If you plan on watching the video using software like XBMC, VLC, etc., you should be fine either way; if you plan on using Power DVD, or another Blu-ray player software, you should stick to m2ts.
If you use a stand-alone device like a HTPC, Popcorn Hour or a Western Digital player, you’ll probably have better compatibility with the mkv container .here I would like to recommend you to try this m2ts to mkv converter.

Squeeze is a background file compressor, which uses the new HFS-compression technology in Snow Leopard to transparently compress the folders you configure it to process. Mac OS will read those files normally, they will just take less disk space.
How does it work? Just select some folders to compress and Squeeze will silently work in the background to compress the files contained on those folders, regaining disk space. Whenever you use any of those files, Snow Leopard will read it like any other file in the system – it will simply take less space.
